3 Day Fruit & Veggie Diet: Day 1.

After our cruise, Thanksgiving, and then Christmas holidays, Ryan & I had gained probably ten pounds between the both of us. Even though we were still running consistently. We felt bloated, and just kind of yucky! We could totally tell in our running that we felt heavier and somewhat sluggish. Afterall, we did indulge quite about over the past two months. It’s not everyday you eat a burger & fries for an afternoon snack or pizza at midnight like we did on our cruise! So, we looked into some diet/cleanse options.

We usually eat pretty healthy on a normal basis. We were really just looking for something that would help give us a little boost back into our healthy eating and possibly cleanse our system in the process (ew!). We decided upon this 3 day fruit & veggie diet and we plan to do this monthly going forward. You know how much we LOVE food and LOVE to cook, but 3 days? I think we can handle that! So, we will set aside 3 days each month where we will only eat fruits and veggies all day. We also determined that we would only be allowed 1 cup of coffee in the morning, 1 glass of V8 juice, 1 cup of herbal tea, and then drink water the rest of the day – at least a total of 2 liters.

Below is what day 1 has looked like. Today has been sort of hard, I’m not going to lie. We are used to drinking multiple cups of coffee, eating meat, and carbs are a Dixon fave…not to mention sweets & wine! But, we made it through the day. 2 more to go!

Day #1

Breakfast: 1 orange, 1 apple, 1 cup of coffee

Lunch: Organic mixed greens salad, 1 carrot, 1 celery, water

Afternoon snack: Banana and 1 glass of V8 Fusion juice

Dinner: Steamed broccoli with sauteed squash, zucchini & onion, water

Evening snack: 1 cup of green tea, blueberries
